Island Love!

Before and After

Woo hoo, the Kitchen Island is finished!

It took all day, yesterday but I finished. Here’s a look at what we started with and how it turned out after a few days & a little bit of  elbow grease.

The Before…

Just plain bad!

Que the Construction Montage……..

Now The After…..

A  vintage hymnal box, salvaged off a church pew as a magazine holder & cute little sign.

“Honesty, When in doutbt tell the truth”

Oh I just Love it!

A  vintage wooden spoon for a towel bar.

I love that big old spoon and now it has the perfect home.

I even made over the knife block!

This project was a blast I would do it over again in a heart beat!!! All of the bead board and trim were scraps left over from our sun-room. The counter top is a 1″ pine panel that we found at the hardware store in the build your bookshelves section.

The only things I had to buy for this project were:

 counter top $30

 corner molding$6

 knobs $6

 steel wool $1.50.

That’s a grand total of $43.50 for an awesome kitchen island!

After all that I’m wiped… hmm a nap maybe?  Nope time for some iced coffee and the next project.

Until tomorrow bloggy land!
